Aug 26. The Russian Ministry of Transport has submitted to the Federal Property Management Agency (Rosimushchestvo) proposals to renew the board of directors of Aeroflot-Russian Airlines, including 3 independent directors, a source familiar with the proposals said. Aeroflot's BoD consists of 11 members, including 6 spokespersons from the government and 3 appointees from minority shareholder National Reserve Corporation which controls some 30% of Aeroflot's shares. In addition, management is represented on the board by First Deputy CEO Vladimir Antonov and CEO Valery Okulov. The source noted that independent directors on the board are to replace ex-presidential aide Victor Ivanov, who currently chairs the Federal Drug Control Service, Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, who left Rostourism for the position of NorNickel CEO, and head of Russian transport watchdog Rostransnadzor Gennady Kurzenkov. According to the Ministry of Transport, they should be replaced with spokesperson of N-Trans Alexander Ignatenko, ex-UES board member Vladimir Avetisyan and ex-head of Rosaviation Alexander Yurchik who was Aeroflot's board member before last AGM. The state's appointees should remain unchanged: Deputy Transport Minister Boris Korol, Deputy Head of Rosimushchestvo Gleb Nikitin and deputy head of government staff Mikhail Kopeikin.
